Custom Wheels Hand-Built in Montreal
Wheel building is the foundation on which our shop's reputation of excellence was built. It has also been our shop owner Isaac Bonequi's specialty for well over a decade.
With thousands of wheels built over the years for all types of bikes and disciplines, we have enough evidence to believe we are amongst the best wheel builders in the nation.
What is a custom wheel?
A custom wheel or hand-built wheel is a wheel who's components were individually selected and assembled to meet specific requirements. Those requirements can be aesthetic, mechanical, functional, or budgetary.
Wheels used to be built based on intended tire sizes, ride feel, final look, aerodynamics and durability. Over time, the bicycle industry became complacent and started using machine-built wheels optimized for low production cost.
At Atelier Olympia we refuse this compromise and instead continue to select our own parts, make our own measurements, cut our own spokes and build wheels by hand the way it's been done since wire spoked wheels were invented.

Are Custom Wheels Better?
Pre-built or "Stock" bikes have their components selected based on market trends and low production cost. Often, the wheels that come with these bicycles lack the crucial elements that make a bicycle wheel performant, durable, and excellent overall.
When done right, custom wheels are more durable, performant, lighter or stiffer, and better looking than pre-built wheels.
Wheels represent half of how your bike rides. The best upgrade one can make to their bike is a set of custom wheels built by Atelier Olympia.
