 Bike mechanics can be intimidating, so we designed a single 3 hour course meant for cyclists to learn only what is essential in order to keep your bike clean, comfortable and safe.

This course is for any and all kinds of bicycles!

MAXIMUM OF 8 STUDENTS PER CLASS. BOOK BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

What do I learn?

• General Bicycle Anatomy: What the names of components are, what they do.
• How to prevent, diagnose, and repair a flat tire as well as what to do in emergency situations
• How to pick tires and tubes, what types of tires exist and the importance of tire pressure
• How to diagnose & adjust Brakes and check for braking system wear
• How to remove and install pedals (not as easy as it sounds!)
• How to remove, clean and install a cassette or freewheel
• How to clean and lube a chain
• How to check for transmission wear
• Ergonomics: How to find the right size bike, how to get the right bars, how to adjust a stem, adjusting saddle height
• How to spot safety issues

Upon completion of this course, participants will gain the confidence to diagnose and fix common basic mechanical issues.

What do I need to bring?

• Your bike (if you don't have one, let us know)
  
• An apron or clothes you don't mind getting dirty (recommended)
• Gloves (recommended). Limited Nitrile gloves can be handed out if necessary.
• A notebook (recommended for writing down things you don't want to forget!)

Students will be supplied with a workstation and tool kit for the duration of the course. You are welcome to bring and use your own equipment if you have it!

What is the course like?

• Course Duration: 3 hours
• Students will learn, do and teach in order to fully absorb course material
• Everyone is free to ask as many questions as needed throughout the class
• Documentation will be handed out during class so that you can take home what you learn!
• Regardless of your level, our job is to challenge you. Experts are welcome to come and hone their skills, as bicycles are an infinite learning curve.

This course is ideal for anyone that:

• Rides their bike as exercise
• Goes to work and runs errands on their bicycle
  
• Races or rides their bike seriously but isn't mechanically confident
• Is interested in becoming a professional mechanic
